Chief Justice of the STF Meets with Justice Authorities from Romania and the Czech Republic

Among the topics discussed were affirmative policies for women, simple language in the Judiciary, and the functioning of legal careers.

The Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, received on Wednesday (10th) justice authorities from Romania and the Czech Republic.

Before the STF's plenary session, Barroso met with the Minister of Justice of Romania, Alina-Stefania Gorghiu, with the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Justice, Alina Corina Corbu, and with the Ambassador of Romania to Brazil, Monica Mihaela Stirbu. The delegation also included the Prosecutor General of the Romanian Public Ministry, Alex Florin Florenta, and other advisors.

On this occasion, Justice Barroso gathered information about female participation in power positions in Romania and mentioned that, in Brazil, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) works towards parity in the promotion of female and male judges.

During the session break, Justice Luís Roberto Barroso met with the President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, Petr Angyalossy. They discussed topics of mutual interest between the two countries, such as the prison system, affirmative policy for female judges, simple language in the Judiciary, and the development of legal careers.
