Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed the unprecedented air attack on Israel by Iran. Secretary Blinken and the Foreign Minister underscored the importance of avoiding escalation and coordinating on a diplomatic response. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Shoukry also discussed the importance of ongoing efforts to increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza, protect Palestinian civilians, and achieve an immediate ceasefire that secures the release of all hostages.
