"Portal To The Keep"

John and Lacey discover an old watch in an antique store and do not know that it will send them on a life changing adventure. It will pit them against the ghastliest villain in the universe bent on controlling time itself. They need your help to outsmart the villain.

Richardson Theatre Centre Presents British Farce

Richardson Theatre Centre is presenting "No Sex Please, We're British," a 1971 British farce by Alistair Foot and Anthony Marriott. The plot focuses on a British bank manager and his new bride, who live above a bank, and the hilarity that ensues when his bride sends a mail order for some Scandinavian glassware, and instead receives Scandinavian items far more "racy." The matter is considerably complicated by the presence of the bank manager's mother, his boss, a visiting bank inspector and a police superintendent.

Time Capsule Submissions

As part of Richardson's 150th birthday bash on June 24, a new time capsule will be sealed. The City is looking for ideas of what to include in the new time capsule. You can find the item guidelines and what is acceptable in a video, located here. You can submit ideas using this online form.

Pick the Richardson Flavor

Vote to decide which flavor of ice cream best represents Richardson to celebrate the City's 150th anniversary. Choose between "Richardson Wildflower", lavender and lemon vanilla swirled together with a honeycomb crunch, or "Lockwood Chocolate Whiskey Caramel Crack", a chocolate whiskey base with a swirl of the Lockwood bourbon caramel with crack pieces. Visit Tongue In Cheek Ice Cream in Richardson to sample the two flavors and cast your vote.

Write a Love Note to Richardson

As part of the City's 150th celebration, the community is invited to write a "love note" to Richardson. Stop by a participating City facility and write down your favorite memory or blessing that has come from being a part of such a wonderful and unique community. Notes can be heartfelt or funny, as long as they are your memories of why you love Richardson. Heart-shaped paper will be provided for your note, and all notes will be part of a display at the citywide celebration June 24. (Please make sure all notes are family-friendly in nature.)

Adults and children are invited to read and participate in a Library and city activity card challenge in connection with Richardson's 150th birthday celebration. Participants who complete the challenge will be eligible to win prizes. Adult cards will be available at the First Floor Help Desk and the children's cards can be picked up at the Youth Services Help Desk. All cards must be returned to the Library by June 24 to exchange for a prize entry form. Complete a row of challenges or fill the whole card.

Darbey's StoryWalk®

Enjoy the May edition of Darbey's StoryWalk®. This month's book is titled "Take Me Out to the Yakyu," written by Aaron Meshon. This a fun story about Musa and his absolute favorite treat. Though focused on a Muslim family, the book shows a diverse community serving up many different cuisines.

Darbey's StoryWalk® is all about movement and reading, as it enables visitors to walk along a designated path behind the Library while reading pages of a children's book posted at 16 different stations.

Join the Richardson Public Library for an introduction to the universe presented by NASA Solar System Ambassador Michelle Wilde. Kids in grades 3-8 can learn about the Big Bang, gravity, the Milky Way galaxy, black holes, star formation, constellations and more. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

People over the age of 65 are at a higher risk of heat-related hospitalizations and deaths, due in part to a decreased ability to control body temperature. This presentation discusses these risks and shares effective ways to prevent heat-related illness and injury. No membership to the Senior Center is required.
