Overnight Weekend Lane Closures on SR 3/Tara Blvd for Resurfacing Project

METRO ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install lane closures on State Route 3/Tara Boulevard (SR 3) this weekend to continue widening and reconstruction activities between SR 54/Fayetteville Road and Bonanza Church Road in Clayton County.

Weather permitting, work crews will install "rolling" single right or left lane closures throughout the project area on Tara Boulevard beginning 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17 until 6 a.m. Saturday morning and 7 p.m. on Sunday until 6 a.m. on Monday. Lane closures will "roll" with the crews as they complete work in one area and move to another.

These activities are related to a project to widen and reconstruct approximately 3.3 miles of SR 3/Tara Boulevard's four lanes to six lanes from Tara Road to just south of SR 54/Fayetteville Road, designed to improve traffic mobility and safety through the corridor.

The $28.3 million project is scheduled for completion in summer 2024.

As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts and eliminate distractions behind the wheel. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
