Northwest Week activities happening March 24-28

Northwest Week, a spring tradition at Northwest Missouri State University, is returning to campus and providing the community with events, giveaways and prizes this month.

The week-long celebration of the University and academic year begins Monday, March 24. It is organized by the Student Activities Council (SAC) and provides social activities designed for Northwest students.

This year's schedule includes a T-shirt giveaway, a picnic with food trucks at the Memorial Bell Tower, a "make-n-take" event and a murder mystery party.

"Northwest Week is a time for the entire Bearcat community to come together and find joy in small and large events alike," Katelyn Briggs, a junior psychology major from Eagleville, Missouri, who serves as SAC president. "These events allow us to not only celebrate our campus culture but also connect with one another, fostering a sense of unity and pride. Whether it's through shared traditions, spirited competitions or simply enjoying each other's company, Northwest Week serves as a reminder of what makes our community truly special."

SAC concludes its spring lineup by sponsoring Northwest's annual spring concert on Friday, April 4, featuring X Ambassadors, and collaborating again with Owens Library for a night of miniature golf in the library on Tuesday, April 8.

SAC plans and administers activities for Northwest students to contribute to a more well-rounded social, recreational and cultural life for the campus and community. The organization provides entertaining alternatives to students with late-night activities and events throughout the year, including concerts, lectures, movies and comedians.

Monday, March 24: T-shirt giveaway

The T-shirt giveaway will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.

Tuesday, March 25: Picnic Palooza

SAC will host a picnic on the Memorial Bell Tower lawn featuring food trucks, including El Nopal and Kool Kats, offering free food.

Wednesday, March 26: Make-n-Take

The event, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Student Union Living Room will feature stuffed animals, a caricature sketch artist, jellyfish air plants, and a stuff-the-Bobby Bearcat.

Thursday, March 27: Murder Mystery Party

SAC will host a Murder Mystery Party from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center at the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building.
