MONTCO INVITES PUBLIC FEEDBACK ON CROSS COUNTY TRAIL ALIGNMENTS IN PLYMOUTH AND WHITEMARSH

NORRISTOWN, PA-The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC), in partnership with its technical engineering consultant team led by NV5, has completed a draft study on the feasibility of completing the Cross County Trail in Plymouth and Whitemarsh Townships. A third and final public meeting to update community members on the selected preferred trail alignments will take place on Monday, December 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. via Zoom at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_yEoobACVS9qXaVvTr30UbA. Completing this study advances the closing of gaps in the Cross County Trail between Germantown Pike and Erdenheim Farms and between Fort Washington State Park and the SEPTA Fort Washington Regional Rail Station.

Now through December 31, 2023, community members can visit the project web page at www.montgomerycountypa.gov/CrossCountyTrailWest to review the detailed concept plans for the proposed trail alignment and submit questions and comments. This web page also has a video with drone footage of the proposed route, commissioned by the trail planning consultant, which contains graphics indicating the proposed route and nearby landmarks.

Representatives from MCPC and NV5 will share information about the concept plans for the proposed alignment and answer questions at any time throughout the 90-minute open house. Participants are encouraged to view the drone video and submit comments on the concept plans for the proposed alignment. Those who are unable to attend the meeting will be able to review a recording of the presentation and Q&A on the project web page after December 18.

The entire Cross County Trail, once completed, is planned to stretch from Conshohocken in the west to the Pennypack Trail in the east, totaling 17.5 miles in all, and will connect the Schuylkill River, Wissahickon Creek, Cresheim, and Power Line Trails. The design and engineering work for these studied sections will begin in early 2024.
