Calling all UCalgary alumni working on campus! Join Rex in a fun video project for convocation

If you are a fan of classic Christmas movies, then you are probably familiar with an all-time favourite romantic comedy, Love Actually. With its star-studded cast, the movie has become a classic, with timeless moments like the iconic love-confession-written-on-cue-cards scene that have been replicated all around the world.

For this year's convocation, the University of Calgary is putting a spin on the cue-card message concept and recreating the Love Actually scene with videotaped messages of congratulations to play for our graduates before the start of convocation ceremonies.

But, for this to happen, we need your help.

How you can participate

On Wednesday, March 13, and Thursday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., we will be asking Rex and UCalgary staff who are themselves graduates to write messages to the graduating Class of 2024, flip their cue cards and smile at the video camera.

If you would like to participate, but are unsure what you'd like your message to be, don't worry. Your message can be as short, sweet and funny as you'd like it to be.

We encourage you all to write these messages in different languages, too, so all grads can feel included.

Kate McKinnon holds a cue card congratulating new graduates.
