Michael Saunders Donates 1-Acre Lot for New 49-Unit Housing Community

A new 49-unit downtown workforce housing community called On the Park is being developed, with half of its apartments reserved for employees of the Sarasota County Sheriff's office.

The project is led by One Stop Housing and will be located on School Avenue across from Payne Park, on land donated by real estate businesswoman Michael Saunders. The initiative arose from a desire to address the housing crisis impacting law enforcement and workforce employees. The development will include retail shops on the first level and is expected to be completed by 2025, targeting households earning 80% or less of the area median income.
