Gundersen Flu Shot Clinics open Oct. 11

As we continue to focus on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, it's time to start thinking about flu prevention. Gundersen Health System opens its Flu Shot Clinics in La Crosse and Onalaska on Monday, Oct. 11.

Clinics will be held on Gundersen's La Crosse Campus on Level 1 of the Main Clinic in Imaging Services and Level 4 of the Gundersen Onalaska Clinic Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Nov. 24.

Several area Gundersen pharmacies will also offer flu vaccine for patients older than 6 years during regular business hours. No appointments are needed for the La Crosse and Onalaska Clinics or pharmacies.

Gundersen's clinics throughout the area are offering the flu vaccine for all ages by appointment during regular business hours.

Patients can now receive their flu shots at their regularly scheduled appointments, and hospitalized patients are offered vaccination against influenza prior to discharge.

It is especially important for people who are considered at high risk for problems with the flu to be vaccinated including:
• Children between 6 and 23 months of age
• Those age 65 and over
• Pregnant women in their second and third trimester
• People with health conditions such as heart or lung problems, kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma, etc.
• Residents of long-term care facilities
• Healthcare workers

Gundersen doctors say it is safe to receive the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time, but you may want to consider separating vaccines if there is a concern about side effects.
