Wholesale & Retail Trade (Statistics)

Overview

Sales value of Wholesale & Retail Trade recorded RM145.7 billion in March 2024, grew 5.0 per cent year-on-year. The positive growth was contributed by all sub-sectors, namely Retail Trade 7.1per cent, Wholesale Trade 4.0per cent,andMotor Vehicles 3.2per cent. Meanwhile, for month-on-month comparison, sales value increased 3.3 per cent.

In terms of volume index, Wholesale & Retail Trade registered a growth of 3.5 per cent year-on-year to record 155.1points. The increase was supported by Retail Trade 5.4 per cent, Wholesale Trade 2.2 per cent, and Motor Vehicles 0.3per cent.<_o3a_p>

For monthly comparison, volume index edged up 2.6 per cent, contributed by Motor Vehicles 7.6 per cent, Wholesale Trade 2.1 per centand Retail Trade 1.8 per cent.

As for seasonally adjusted volume index, it went down -0.8 per centmonth-on-month in March 2024, contributed by Motor Vehicles -2.0 per cent.
