6th Street NW/Ellis Boulevard NW Lane Closure
Effective Thursday, April 11, 6th Street NW/Ellis Boulevard NW will be reduced to one lane between 1st Avenue W and F Avenue NW for concrete evaluation testing. Work is expected to take one (1) day. Flaggers will be present directing traffic, but delays should be anticipated.

Updated: 1st Avenue E Lane Reduction
Effective Wednesday, April 10, eastbound traffic on 1st Avenue E will be reduced to one lane between 14th Street and Park Court for roadway repairs. Additionally, turns onto 15th Street from 1st Avenue, and turns onto 1st Avenue from 15th Street, will not be permitted. Work is expected to take approximately one (1) week.

Edgewood Road NW Lane Reduction to Continue Monday
Continuing Monday, April 8th, northbound traffic on Edgewood Road NW will be reduced to one lane between Iris Avenue and Westwood Drive for utility relocations. Work is expected to take five (5) days.

1st Avenue W Lane Reductions
Effective Monday, April 8th, 1st Avenue W will be reduced to one lane each direction from 9th Street to 15th Street for painting of pavement markings. Work is expected to take one (1) week.

Overnight Lane Reductions on Highway 30 to Begin Tonight
Beginning tonight, Monday, April 1st, alternating lane reductions will be in place overnight on Highway 30, between Edgewood Road and 6th Street SW, for roadway improvements performed by the Iowa Department of Transportation. Construction work on the ramps at Edgewood Road SW will also occur at times, but all ramps will remain open to traffic at all times. Work is expected to last until mid-June. Walford Road SW Closed to Through Traffic Beginning Monday
Beginning Monday, March 25, 2024, Walford Road SW will be closed to through traffic between 6th Street and Earhart Lane for the installation of new pavement, and water main and storm sewer improvements. Access to properties will be maintained during the closure. Work is expected to last until approximately mid-June.

A Avenue NE Lane Reductions at 10th Street
Effective Monday, March 25th, A Avenue NE will be reduced to one lane each direction at 10th Street, with lane shifts occurring through the intersection, for building repairs and construction. Work is expected to take approximately six (6) weeks.

New Traffic Signals at Blairs Ferry Road and 18th Avenue NE to be Activated Friday
The newly installed traffic signals at Blairs Ferry Road and 18th Avenue/Accel Drive NE will be activated tomorrow, Friday, March 22th. The signals were installed as a part of the Blairs Ferry Road NE Improvements and 18th Avenue Extension project, which also included new roadway pavement and access to the Fountains Development and adjacent properties. Additionally, construction of a median along Blairs Ferry Road between Edgewood Road and 18th Avenue will begin soon. The project is expected to be completed by the end of April.

35th Street NE Closed to Through Traffic at Eastern Avenue/Zach Johnson Drive Intersection
Starting Monday, March 18, the Paving for Progress project along 35th Street NE, from Oakland Road to F Avenue, will begin. 35th Street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project.

Traffic impacts will begin Monday, March 18, with the first stage of work including the full closure of the intersection of 35th Street NE and Eastern Avenue/Zach Johnson Drive. During this stage, the work area begins about a half block west of Eastern Avenue NE and ends just east of the Eastern Avenue NE intersection.

Blairs Ferry Road NE Lane Reductions
Effective Thursday, March 14, Blairs Ferry Road NE, between Edgewood Road and 18th Avenue (Hiawatha), will be reduced to one lane each direction for median construction and traffic signal installation. Work is expected to take one (1) month.

Center Point Road NE
Effective Thursday, March 7, Center Point Road NE will be closed to thru-traffic from H Avenue to J Avenue while utility and roadway improvements are underway. This includes the full closure of the intersections at I Avenue and J Avenue. The intersection at H Avenue will remain open. Detours will be posted for through traffic. Hickory Drive SW and 29th Street SW
Effective Monday, February 19, Hickory Drive SW from Wilson Avenue to 29th Street SW and 29th Street SW from Hickory Drive to 2018 29th Street SW, will undergo concrete panel replacement. Work is expected to progress in phases and take two (2) months.

Banar Avenue SW Street Improvements
Effective Monday, February 26, Banner Avenue SW from Coyote Road to Badger Drive, will undergo concrete panel replacement. Work is expected to take two (2) months.

1st Street NE Reduced to One Lane Between B Avenue and 1st Avenue E

Effective Wednesday, November 29th, southbound traffic on 1st Street NE will be reduced to one lane between B Avenue and 1st Avenue E for construction of Flood Control System (FCS) infrastructure. Work is expected to last until the spring of 2025.

FCS construction in this area will better protect the City from a flooding event and includes a pump station between the Tree of Five Seasons sculpture and I-380, a new flood wall from 1st Avenue to I-380, and three flood gates located at E and F Avenue (under I-380) and 2nd Avenue SE.
