WVU Commencement Weekend to honor thousands of graduates during nine ceremonies

WHAT:West Virginia University will celebrate the accomplishments of thousands of graduates during Commencement Weekend in Morgantown with nine ceremonies over three days.

WHO: More than 4,000 spring graduates, President Gordon Gee, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Maryanne Reed, Chancellor and Executive Dean for Health Sciences Dr. Clay Marsh, other University leaders, eight honorary degree recipients and two speakers

VENUE INFORMATION: Tickets are not required. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. The University's Clear Bag Policy will be in effect. No signs or noisemakers are permitted.

For those who cannot attend in person, each ceremony will be livestreamed with broadcasts beginning a few minutes prior to scheduled event starts. After the ceremonies, archived recordings will be available.

PARKING:For attendees, free ceremony parkingis available at the Coliseum. Members of the University Police Departmentwill be directing traffic.

The Coliseum is ADA compliant with ADA parking in the front of the building. A valid handicap placard will be required for handicap parking. Shuttles and golf carts will be running in the parking areas.

The PRTcloses for summer break Saturday, May 4, and will not be an option for transportation to and from Commencement Weekend ceremonies.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS:As part of Commencement Weekend, the Army ROTC Mountaineer Battalionwill conduct the annual Spring Commissioning Ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the MountainlairBallrooms.

The Honors Collegewill host its Honors FoundationsRecognition Ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the Lyell B. Clay Theatre, Canady Creative Arts Center.
