Traffic Advisory: Important Information for Taylor Swift Concert Attendees

As the City prepares to welcome thousands of fans to the highly anticipated Taylor Swift concert series, local officials have provided traffic flow information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) is actively working on construction projects and traffic signal improvements in the Central Business District (CBD) and French Quarter. Residents and visitors attending the Taylor Swift concerts should keep the following updates in mind regarding street conditions and important reminders around the Superdome:

DPW Updates and Road Impacts

Key Road Closures Due to Construction:

North Rampart, Iberville, Burgundy, and Canal Streets Road Construction Project:

  • Iberville Street Closure: Closed from Rampart to Burgundy
  • Intersection Closure: The intersection of Iberville and Burgundy is temporarily closed for valve repairs by the Sewerage and Water Board (SWB)
  • Lane Closure on Rampart: One lane remains open on Rampart between Canal and Iberville to allow for limited vehicular access
  • Lane Closure on Canal: Canal Street is reduced to two travel lanes between Burgundy and Rampart

Julia Street Road Construction Project:

  • Ongoing concrete patching repairs are underway on Julia Street from Carondelet to Okeefe. This lane reduction will continue until completion estimated for November

Traffic Signal Information:

Please note the following updates regarding traffic signals at key intersections:

  • Canal at Rampart: The traffic signal is experiencing timing issues
  • Rampart at Julia: Stop signs have been posted while signal repairs are underway
  • Tulane/Common at Rampart: Signals are flashing red

Important Parking Information:

Residents and visitors are encouraged to adhere to parking regulations to ensure a smooth experience. Common violations can be reviewed here. The City's solar-powered parking meters accept various payment methods for your convenience.

  • Parking Meter Hours: Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

New Orleans Police Department (NOPD)

From Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27 there will be no permanent street closures. However, temporary closures will be in place to facilitate pedestrian ingress and egress.

Traffic restrictions may occur on the following streets:

  • Poydras Street (North Claiborne Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard)
  • Canal Street (North Claiborne Avenue to North Peters Street)
  • Loyola Avenue (North Iberville Street to Calliope Street)

"No Parking" signs will be posted in coordination with DPW. Those vehicles found in "No Parking" zones will be towed.

Those streets include Iberville through St Ann Streets.

  • Both sides of Canal Street from North Claiborne Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard
  • 700 and 800 blocks between Dauphine Street and Royal Street
  • On Decatur Street from Dumaine Street to St. Louis Street and on North Peters Street from St. Louis Street to Canal Street (Both sides of the street)
  • On Canal Street both sides from Claiborne Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard

New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA)

The RTA is making adjustments to bus, streetcar and ferry service as needed:

  • The Algiers Point-Canal Street Ferry will add a second vessel to accommodate the anticipated increase in ridership, with ferries leaving every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes (Friday through Sunday, Oct. 25-27).
  • The 202 Airport Express bus that runs round-trip between downtown and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will feature an additional two buses on the route, getting riders to and from the airport every 30 minutes instead of every 90 minutes, now through Monday, Oct. 28.
  • Riders can expect detours around the downtown area during the concerts.
