IPWEA Awards for the Black Swan Habitat

The Black Swan Habitat project has earned the City of South Perth two awards at this year's Institute Public Works Engineering Australasia WA Excellence Awards.

The $1.5 million project completed last September received the Excellence in Water Projects Award and a highly commended award in the Excellence in Environment and Sustainability.

The City and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Riverbank Program were presented with the awards at theannual IPWEA WA Excellence Awards on Friday 11 March, along with project partners m p rogers & associates pl and Bamford Consulting Ecologists.

The Black Swan Habitat was developed as part of the City's South Perth Foreshore Strategy and Management Plan and offers a refuge for swans and other birdlife while protecting the riverbank from erosion.
