The Non-Resident Ambassador of Republic of Maldives to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, His Excellency Mohamed Jinah presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic His Excellency Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, at a ceremony held this afternoon at the Presidential Palace, Vientiane.

During the brief courtesy call following the Credentials Ceremony, Ambassador Jinah expressed his gratitude for being given the honour to present his Letter of Credence and serve as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Laos. Ambassador Jinah also conveyed greetings from His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of Maldives to the President and People of Laos. Ambassador Jinah further expressed commitment to work closely with the Laos Government with a renewed focus in enhancing the bilateral relationship, and also focusing in the areas of promoting tourism, trade, and other areas of mutual interest. The President of Laos congratulated Ambassador Jinah on the assumption of his duties as Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Laos and expressed hope to work closely with the Maldives in further strengthening the bilateral relations and increase people to people to contact between the two countries.

During his visit to Laos, Ambassador Jinah also paid courtesy calls on a number of senior dignitaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including His Excellency Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss further on exploring opportunities and enhancing the cooperation between the two countries.
