May 1, 2024

George Gard, a professor in Wentworth Institute of Technology's School of Architecture and Design, has been honored with a Young Architects award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

The publication described Gard as "an architect who brings a future-oriented design to existing buildings and urban spaces" who "champions reuse as a vital component of the built environment and the profession."

Gard, an architect at Bruner/Colt Architects in Boston, is responsible for several notable projects, including renovating buildings for MASS MoCA and revitalizing Frost Terrace in Cambridge. Since 2015, he has focused on sustainability and advocating for life cycle assessments in design.

In addition to teaching at Wentworth, Gard leads his firm's co-op program, providing hands-on experience to Architecture students. AIA praises Gard's multifaceted approach to design, sustainability, education, and mentorship.
