Public comment welcome on Water Conservation Plan

The Texas Water Code requires each retail public utility that provides potable water service to 3,300 or more connections to submit a Drought Contingency and Water Conservation Plan to the Texas Water Development Board and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The Code also requires the plan be reviewed and submitted once every five (5) years thereafter.

The last time Azle City Council reviewed the plan was April 2019. Staff has reviewed the plan, updated the water use numbers, and made sure the plan meets the requirements set forth by the State of Texas, the Texas Water Development Board, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Tarrant Regional Water District. This action is the 5-year update to the ordinance to meet State law.

Azle City Council will consider adopting this updated plan at the April 2 City Council meeting. We welcome comments from the public prior to the April 2 council meeting. Please email Public Services Director Rick White at [email protected] with any questions or comments.
