VALLEY CENTER - The City of Valley Center is in discussions with a local company to develop the first 3D-printed community of homes in the State of Kansas.

This would be the first 3D-printed home community in the State of Kansas and one of only a handful in the nation.

The City is learning about new options for 3D-printed homes from CC3D. CC3D, a startup arm of Crain Company, is a forward-thinking Kansas company leading the way by developing and implementing innovative building methods. CC3D was developed to provide high-quality, affordable, and sustainable housing through creatively designed, efficiently built 3D-printed homes.

The site (pictured left) of the potential 3D-printed home community will be in a new subdivision along Ford Street and Dexter Ave with the project potentially beginning construction yet this year.

"Housing options continue to be a struggle in not only Valley Center but across the nation. 3D-printed housing provides a new cutting-edge opportunity to address this need. We are honored to be selected and partner with CC3D in this collaborative endeavor. Valley Center continues to create an environment that fosters unique and innovated opportunities for all," said Lou Cicirello, Valley Center Mayor.

"We are excited to be working with the City of Valley Center to bring the first 3D-printed homes to Kansas. 3D-printed construction will revolutionize the housing construction industry by providing beautiful, high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable housing options. 3D-printed concrete construction is an innovative application of tried-and-true materials and technology that will allow the shell of a home to be constructed in a few days rather than a few months. Our aim is to provide affordable, safe, sustainable, and attractive homes in Kansas communities. We believe the innovation and efficiency of 3D-printed construction is the gateway to deliver these homes." Eric Ross, CEO, CC3D.

CC3D plans to use designs from local architects and finish work from local contractors for the innovative project.
