Idaho ranked No. 1 in the nation at 3.7% for over-the-year nonfarm job growth in March. While the state's unemployment rate remains the same at 3.3%, local businesses continue to create job opportunities for residents.

Rexburg employers with job openings to fill will be available at the Idaho Department of Labor's job fair, Tuesday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at VFW - Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 480 W. Second N.

"We had a business who needed help filling 320 positions call us, so we decided to have a job fair to give employers more of a chance to fill these positions," said Windy Hahn, manager of the department's Idaho Falls office.

Hahn said the event will give Rexburg residents another opportunity to attend a job fair, rather than commute 45 minutes to the regular bi-weekly hiring event in Idaho Falls.

Larger companies planning to attend include American Fabrication, the Community Council of Idaho, Everlast Brands, Express Employment Professionals, Fybercom, the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, the Idaho National Laboratory, Key Bank, Lone Pine Tree Service, Mentor Idaho, Wheeler Electric Inc. and more.

Employers will be recruiting employees for a variety of positions including laborers, home health care workers, cashiers, customer service representatives, tellers, rehabilitation technicians, clinicians and more.

A complete list of employers attending is available on our calendar of events.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring an updated resume. For job search and interview tips, visit labor.idaho.gov/publications. Search under Job Seeker Publications.

Customers with disabilities who need a reasonable accommodation to participate can contact [email protected] or at 208-557-2500 ext. 3141. Dial 711 to access the Idaho Relay Service for the deaf and hard of hearing.

A resume workshop is taking place Monday, April 29, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Center for Hope, 859 Yellowstone Highway Suite 2701 in Rexburg.

Attending a job seeker event counts as one weekly valid work-search activity for unemployment insurance purposes.
