Russian and Belarusian paratroopers provided escort for the convoy to overcome the water barrier at the training ground in the Mogilev region

The second stage of the joint Belarusian-Russian battalion tactical exercise has ended at the Osipovichsky training ground in the Mogilev region of the Republic of Belarus. The joint reinforced paratrooper battalion worked out the issue of escorting the automobile convoy and ensuring its crossing over the water barrier.

According to the plan of the exercise, on the route of the CSS convoy, the bridge through the reclamation canal was destroyed by the mock enemy. To overcome the water barrier with a width of 16 meters, it was decided to use a heavy mechanized bridge TMM-3, which was quickly deployed by Belarusian military engineers.

The convoy and the water crossing were covered by four armored personnel carriers BTR-80 with regular weapons and more than 40 soldiers of the reinforced battalion, who were landed by landing method on the opposite bank to counteract the sabotage groups of the mock enemy. The Mi-8MT helicopter provided air cover for the crossing.

At the next stage, the paratroopers of the two countries will have to work out the retention of the designated defence line with the conduct of the combat shooting stage at the Osipovichsky training ground and conduct a landing in the designated area from the IL-76 md aircraft.

In total, more than 400 servicemen from the Vitebsk separate guards airborne brigade and the personnel of the airborne assault unit of the Pskov airborne formation, about 35 armored vehicles, more than 25 vehicles, 8 mortar crews, 2 MI-8 helicopters and 1 unmanned aircraft complex (UAV) crew were involved in the stage.

The planned Belarusian-Russian tactical exercise takes place from March 15 to 27 this year under the leadership of the commander of the Vitebsk separate guards airborne brigade of the guards, Colonel Alexey Elfimov.

From the Russian Federation, about 90 servicemen of the guards airborne assault regiment from Pskov are taking part in the exercise. More than 400 personnel and about 100 units of combat and special equipment of the Vitebsk separate guards airborne unit and MTA helicopters are involved from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
