Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested for Armed Carjacking Incident in Brighton

Investigation Update: At about 3:51 PM, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and detectives assigned District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) arrested Romello McCain, 18, of Boston in the area of 2 East Brookline Street. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on a straight warrant out of Brighton District Court for armed carjacking with a firearm, armed and masked robbery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and larceny over $1,200. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.

Officers also executed a search warrant of 2 East Brookline and recovered Glock 9mm ten round magazine, a box of fifty 9mm rounds of ammunition, 15 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, and approximately $367 in US currency.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 11:39 PM, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to the area of Goodenough Street for a report of an armed carjacking. Officers were advised that the two suspects pulled out firearms and demanded the victim to give them everything. The suspects stole the victim's vehicle and approximately $1,300 worth of personal belongings. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle, unoccupied in the area of 14 Greenwich Park.
