BPC Applauds First DAC Hub Funding Award for Project Cypress

Washington, DC - The following is a statement from Xan Fishman, senior director of the Energy Program at the Bipartisan Policy Center, on the Department of Energy Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations' (OCED) first funding award of more than $50 million from its Regional Direct Air Capture Hub program to Project Cypress:

"OCED and the deserve a lot of credit for all of the work that went into getting this first tranche of DAC hub funding out the door.

"The DAC hubs program is poised to jumpstart a new climate technology industry in America that both removes emissions from the atmosphere and boosts local economies. This is just the first step for one hub. By the end of the decade, we'll have four hubs removing millions of tons of CO2 every year. The road to gigaton-scale removal starts now."
