Quack Rich McCormick Pushes Disinformation About COVID-19 Pandemic — Again

Rich McCormick, an emergency room doctor who routinely refused to wear a mask and rejected basic CDC COVID-19 precautions, lost his campaign in GA-07 after pushing lies and disinformation about the deadly pandemic. But you won't see the failed congressional candidate taking any lessons from his loss in 2020 - instead, he's doubling down on his playbook of lying about the disease that has taken the lives of 600,000 Americans, choosing once more to put politics above the health of his community.

Last week, Rich McCormick joined conservative disinfo station NewsMax, where he claimed the highly contagious Delta variant had been 'blown out of proportion' and that 'it just makes no sense' to '[vaccinate] people to protect other people who are unvaccinated.'

McCormick also claimed that there was no 'mortality rate spike' or increase in hospitalization due to the Delta variant - a demonstrably false statement that contradicts Georgia state data, which shows that as the 'highly contagious delta variant spreads in Georgia, the number of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations is ticking upward, particularly in pockets with low vaccination rates.'

'Rich McCormick is a quack who repeatedly exploited his credentials as a doctor to lie about this deadly disease and cover for the Republican Party's failure to get the pandemic under control,' said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. 'Now he's doubling down on putting politics above the health of his community. Georgians will continue to see Rich McCormick for who he really is: a snake oil salesman who has no business being in Congress.'
