State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ingrid Brocková opened today (17 January 2022) the world première of the first universal processor Prodigy of the Slovak company Tachyum. The event took place in the framework of the Global Sustainable Goals Week in the Slovak pavilion at the EXPO in Dubai.

"The development of artificial intelligence to address complex medical or environmental challenges requires a higher performance of computer processors. Tachyum's solution is truly ground-breaking. The Prodigy processor is not only faster, but also less energy-intensive. The success of Tachyum is the success of the whole Slovakia," said the State Secretary at the event.

The universal computer processor Prodigy with multiple times higher speed and lower power consumption represents a revolution in computer technology. Data centres currently consume more than 3% of the global electricity consumption with a growing trend. Prodigy could thus reduce CO2 emissions by around 660 million tons per year. Based on the architecture of the new processor, the National Supercomputer Centre (NSCC) in Slovakia is currently developing the fastest computer in the world.

"More than ever before we are witnessing that the world is changing as a result of digitalisation. An economy that promotes innovation is of key importance. We have the potential to be an attractive incubator for innovative companies such as Tachyum, which is another example of a unique innovative company from Slovakia," confirmed the State Secretary.

The State Secretary discussed various aspects of artificial intelligence with the co-founder and CEO of Tachyum Radoslav Danilák and Prof. Steve Furber from the University of Manchester.

Yesterday (16 January 2022) the Slovak delegation started its EXPO program with a detailed tour of the Slovak pavilion and today (17 January 2022) continued with a tour of the pavilions of Croatia, Israel, the Vatican, and the Mobility Pavilion.
