Deputy Minister Sereni chairs National Council for Development Cooperation meeting

Deputy Minister Marina Sereni chaired the eighth meeting of the National Council for Development Cooperation (CNCS), the body that gathers 54 major public and private, "profit" and "non-profit" stakeholders operating in the sphere of international development cooperation. The CNCS is the main instrument of participation, consultation and proposal introduced under Law no. 125/2014, which reformed the Italian development cooperation system; it meets at least once a year to express non-binding opinions on matters concerning development cooperation.

The Deputy Minister opened the meeting by stressing the global consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the impact on partner countries, ranging from food security to the price of raw materials and financial instability risks. In such a situation, Ms Sereni pointed out, development cooperation will continue to play its part, promoting development, security and peace.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Stefania Craxi, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate, Senator Tatjana Rojc, member of the Constitutional Affairs Committee, and MPs Iolanda Di Stasio and Erasmo Palazzotto, members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
