The Metropolitan Action Commission will resume it's annual in-person Graduation Celebration today for students who despite the challenges of the pandemic have completed programs offered through the agency's Adult Education and Workforce programs.
This year's class consists of graduates receiving their High School Equivalency diploma/GED, Child Development Associate (CDA), which enables them to qualify for entry-level teaching positions, and adults improving or learning English as a Second Language (ESL). There are also students receiving their IT credentials (CompTIA A+ Certification). The agency's workforce initiatives are created to improve earning potential and placement within a career or postsecondary education.
'We want to celebrate this moment in time as our students are recognized for this accomplishment while managing the impact of global uncertainty due to the pandemic,' said Dr. Cynthia Croom, Metro Action Executive Director.
Metro Action's approach to empowering families is from a Whole Family/2GEN perspective which builds a system of support around adults and their children addressing the root causes of poverty for that family.
The agency receives funding from the Tennessee Department of Human Services to administer the Adult Education and Credentialing Programs.
Note: COVID Protocols will be strictly enforced. This is inclusive of all media wearing face covering while covering the event on-site.
