Military units of Russian and Mongolian armed forces conduct combat coordination of units as part of Selenga 2022

Servicemen of joint grouping of troops from formations and units of the Eastern Military District and Mongolian Armed Forces have begun combat coordination of units and preparing for upcoming joint operations at Hovd training ground as part of Russian-Mongolian military exercise Selenga 2022.

The personnel practised the procedure of joint actions in course of the execution of fire attack on enemy troops in mountainous and desert terrain and populated areas, as well as interaction with helicopter crews of the army aviation of the Eastern Military District.

Earlier, the joint command headquarters of the exercise had defined common control and interaction signals for both sides, as well as procedures for carrying out firing tasks in direct contact with an illegal armed formation of mock enemy.

The personnel of Pantsir-S self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun systems play an important role in the combat ranks when carrying out practical tasks. This equipment is used to destroy enemy air and ground targets using standard missile and cannon armament. It should be noted that this is the first use of modern equipment by air defence forces of the Russian Armed Forces in the history of the Russian-Mongolian Selenga exercise.

The exercise involves motorised rifle and reconnaissance units, air defence, communications and logistics teams. From the Mongolian Armed Forces - motorised rifle units on APCs, anti-aircraft defence and artillery units, as well as engineering support and signal units.

A total of about 1,200 servicemen are taking part in the joint Russian-Mongolian military exercise, involving up to 300 units of weapons and military equipment, including helicopters of the army aviation of the Eastern Military District.

It should be noted that in the course of the exercise, the joint staff of the Joint Command of the Land Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, the Command of the Military High Command and the Headquarters of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Mongolia developed and is currently being tested in practice a plan for joint practical operations of the troops (forces) in the mountainous and desert terrain of western Mongolia.
