LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT CONGRATULATING PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM RECIPIENTS

Los Angeles, CA - Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement today congratulating Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and the Honorable Jim Clyburn on receiving the 2024 Presidential Medal of Freedom:

Today, our nation's highest civilian honor will be rightfully bestowed upon Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and the Honorable Jim Clyburn.

Speaker Emerita Nancy D'Alesandro Pelosi is the most accomplished Speaker of the House in American history and our country is unquestionably better off for her extraordinary leadership. Her faithful devotion to serving our country even through our most turbulent times to meet the needs of the American people truly embodies the meaning of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Jim Clyburn has consistently been a champion in Congress who is a voice for the voiceless and a defender of democracy. He has shown true dedication to his community, the Civil Rights movement, the Congress, the Constitution and the country. After serving at the highest levels of Democratic leadership for over two decades, he continues to inspire our nation and is deeply deserving of this honor.

I am grateful for Nancy and Jim's commitment, leadership and friendship. May God continue to bless them and all of today's deserving honorees.
