TSB deploys a team to Portugal Cove, NL, following the collision between the passenger vessels Legionnaire and Beaumont Hamel

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, 3 November 2022 - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to Portugal Cove, NL to investigate a collision between the passenger vessel Beaumont Hamel and the passenger vessel Legionnaire which occurred on 2 November 2022 in Bell Island, NL. Both vessels proceeded to Portugal Cove on their own power. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
