Foreign Secretary Ebrard Meets with MIKTA Leaders and Foreign Ministers of Canada and Spain

The leaders of the MIKTA member countries (Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye and Australia) held a brief meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders' Summit. They applauded the results of the G20 Heads of State and Government Summit and expressed their commitment to multilateralism as a tool for conflict resolution. MIKTA Leaders' Meeting in Bali Joint Statement.

MIKTA is an innovative partnership made up of five countries that, although they come from different cultures and regions (Mexico as the only country on the American continent; Indonesia, South Korea and Türkiye, from Asia; and Australia, representing Oceania), identify with each other because they share values and similarities. For example, they are democracies and open economies with high rates and notable levels of economic power. A fundamental aspect that distinguishes these nations is that they have strategic geographical positions and are closely connected to their respective regions.

Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard also held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Canada, Melanie Joly, and Spain, José Manuel Albares Bueno, with whom he reviewed the main aspects of each bilateral relationship and exchanged views on the geopolitical situation and the main economic challenges to the international community.
