Detectives Working Leads in Friday Night's Fatal Shooting at Murfreesboro Pike Apartment Complex

Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division detectives are working active leads in Friday night's fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another in the parking lot of Cascade Apartments, 3300 Murfreesboro Pike.

The deceased is identified as Vidal York, 23, of Smyrna. Wounded, non-critically, was a 19-year-old man who arrived at the apartment complex with York.

South Precinct officers responded to the shooting call at 9:33 p.m. York was found lying in the parking lot. He was rushed to a hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. The 19-year-old was transported to a hospital by private vehicle. He was treated and released.

The shooter is believed to have fled the apartment complex by vehicle shortly after the gunfire. The motive has not yet been determined.
