A reminder that Caltrans is scheduled to close southbound Interstate 680 in Pleasanton, between the I-580/I-680 connector and Koopman Road in Sunol, beginning tonight, Friday, April 26, at 9:00 p.m., through Monday morning, April 29, at 4:00 a.m., in order to replace the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680.

Caltrans is scheduled to close southbound Interstate 680 in Pleasanton between the I-580/I-680 Connector and Koopman Road in Sunol on Friday, April 26 through Monday morning, April 29, 2024.

During the closure, contractor will replace a portion of the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680, between the I-580/I-680 Connector and Koopman Road. The work will repair deteriorating existing pavement and enhance motorist safety while reducing the number of nightly closures needed on the project.

The I-680 freeway will be closed in the southbound direction between the I-580/I-680 Connector and Koopman Road from 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, to 4:00 a.m. the following Monday, April 29.

This is the final full weekend closure of southbound I-680 between I-580/I-680 and Koopman Road which completes the concrete rehabilitation of the existing lanes one year ahead of schedule. Work will continue on southbound I-680 through the year at night under typical lane closures.

This weekend closure will rehabilitate the pavement an entire year ahead of schedule, giving motorists a smooth ride starting in spring 2024 instead of having to drive on deteriorated pavement until 2025. It also will accomplish the amount of work that otherwise would require an estimated 40 nighttime closures.
