Participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, to the Rimini Meeting (23 August 2023)

Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will attend the Rimini Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday 23 August.

The Deputy Prime Minister will speak at the event "Our Common Challenges with Africa", moderated by Giampaolo Silvestri, Secretary General of AVSI, one of the leading Italian NGOs in the field of international cooperation.

According to Tajani, "the Rimini Meeting remains an extraordinary opportunity to meet and discuss the main current international issues. The values of the Meeting - friendship, dialogue, and the pursuit of diplomacy to resolve conflicts - are also the values of Italy's foreign policy, and are more necessary than ever in the current international context".

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is participating for the fifth consecutive year to the Rimini Meeting with an International Pavilion, entitled this year "Le strade dell'amicizia: percorsi e storie della Cooperazione Italiana" (The roads of friendship: paths and stories of Italian Cooperation). The large exhibition area is dedicated to the commitment of the Italian Cooperation service and its partners towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

"This year we wanted to stress the connection between climate change and food security, with a particular focus on Africa," Tajani said, adding that "these are interconnected issues that the Italian government has decided to address with an articulated strategy, launched by last July's conferences on "Development and Migration" and on "Food Security", and which will continue with the presentation of the Mattei Plan at the next Italy-Africa Summit, up to the G7 Presidency in 2024".
