Suspect Arrested After Stabbing in East Sacramento County

At approximately 11:15 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff's East Division Patrol Deputies responded to a bar on the 12000 block of Folsom Boulevard to the report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive.

Moments later, patrons pointed out the suspect to Deputies, who was still carrying a knife. Deputies contacted the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Delance Jefferson, and took him into custody without further incident. Jefferson was on felony probation for multiple felonies at the time of this incident.

Witnesses reported that Jefferson had been refused service at the bar earlier when he did not have money to pay for an alcoholic beverage. Jefferson then followed a female employee around the establishment before she sought refuge in an employee's only area. The victim, another employee, tried to intervene when Jefferson stabbed him multiple times. Patrons of the establishment chased Jefferson out of the business and pointed him out to Deputies arriving on scene.
Jefferson was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $500,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 12, 2024.
