The Ministry of Water Resources announced the winners of the 2021-2022 China Water Conservancy Engineering Excellent (Dayu) Award on May 8th, with 36 water conservancy projects on the list. Among them, the Wujiangkou Lock and its upstream supporting channel project in Haishu District and the Yaojiang Second Channel (Cijiang) Project - Xiepu Lock Station in Zhenhai District made it to the list of winners.

The Wujiangkou Lock and its upstream supporting channel project is a key provincial construction project with a total investment of 150 million yuan. The project is designed to withstand flood standards of a 100-year return period and drainage standards of a 20-year return period. The lock gate has a net width of 25 meters and a maximum flow rate of 78.4 cubic meters per second. It is equipped with three submersible axial flow pumps with a designed drainage flow rate of 30 cubic meters per second.

As an important component of the "6+1" flood control and drainage project in the YuYao River - Fenghua River basin, the Xiepu Lock Station has a main pump station designed with a flow rate of 250 cubic meters per second. Its single 50 cubic meters per second vertical shaft flow pump is the largest in the country. The main water gate has a total net width of 48 meters with six orifices and a designed flow rate of 349 cubic meters per second. The estimated total investment of the project is 640 million yuan.
