PA House Republican Leaders Call on House Democrats to Support Senate Republican Historic Tax Cut, Energy Savings Plan

May. 07, 2024

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania House Republican Leadership Team Tuesday called on the Pennsylvania House Democratic majority to stand with Pennsylvanians struggling with rising inflation and increasing energy costs by immediately calling up the Senate-passed historic tax cut and energy savings plan.

The House Republican Leadership Team includes:

· Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster)

· Whip Tim O'Neal (R-Washington)

· Appropriations Chairman Seth Grove (R-York)

· Caucus Chairman George Dunbar (R-Westmoreland)

· Caucus Administrator Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland)

· Caucus Secretary Martina White (R-Philadelphia)

· Policy Committee Chairman Josh Kail (R-Washington/Beaver)

"Simply put, the Senate plan to cut the Personal Income Tax and slash energy taxes is the most direct way to support Pennsylvanians who literally continue to pay the price for failed fiscal and energy policies. This direct reinvestment into the people of this Commonwealth will put more money in the pockets of Pennsylvanians, stimulate the economy and naturally finance government operations through normal economic activity," the leaders said. "We call on the House Democrats to avoid playing political games and immediately call up this plan as it was sent from the Senate to reinvest taxpayer dollars directly back into the pockets of Pennsylvanians."

The Republican leaders noted that the tax cut plan will not only put more money in the pockets of Pennsylvanians but will limit the spending increases proposed by Gov. Josh Shapiro and curtail future government growth.

"Growing government is not an option, but providing direct investment in Pennsylvanians in the form of tax cuts is the right option to return the significant contributions they have made in the Commonwealth," they said.

Senate Bill 269 passed the Senate Tuesday by a vote of 36-14.
