NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (March 27, 2024) in the 2000 block of Painters Street, leaving one victim there and a second injured.

At about 1:04 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to an initial call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male gunshot wound victims on scene. One of the victims was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was subsequently declared deceased on scene. The second victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported via EMS to a local hospital for further treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
