Parts of Trinity Park closed for Mayfest setup, but fun options remain

Published on April 14, 2024

Mayfest returns May 2-5. To allow for setup for the four-day family festival, the Mayfest area of Trinity Park will be closed to the public through Wednesday, May 9. The park reopens Thursday, May 10.

The Mayfest area also encompasses Dream Park. While this playground will be closed during setup, it will be open to all Mayfest attendees during the festival. There is another playground located at the north end of Trinity Park, near the duck pond, that will remain open during this time.

The Trinity Park Loop Trail provides a lighted detour connecting the Trinity Trail north and south ends of the closure, staying on the west side of the Trinity River. The Loop Trail ensures that trail users can continue to use the trails while the Mayfest portion of the park is closed. Trail users can also cross the Trinity River on the south at the Mistletoe Bridge or on the north end at the Phyllis J. Tilley Bridge.

By the numbers: In the history of Mayfest, more than $7.5 million has been given back to the community. Examples of funded improvements include LED lighting and structures throughout Trinity Park, the Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Pedestrian Bridge signage and landscaping, as well as five trail connections along the Trinity Trails.
