Office of Faculty Development Accepting Applications for OFD Scholars

The Office of Faculty Development is accepting applications for the latest cohort of OFD Scholars. The latest cohort of OFD Scholars, titled "The Second Book," will receive community and writing support as they begin, continue to work on, or finish their second book project. Applications are due Dec. 11.

The OFD Scholars will engage with a semester-long series of interactive writing workshops and peer feedback sessions. The training, feedback and accountability will help them make significant progress on their book while balancing other work and personal commitments.

"Last year as part of my Chancellor's Leadership Fellowship, I spoke with faculty and associate deans across the entire campus. Overwhelmingly, all said how important it was for faculty to have a community of peers to share their writing and bounce ideas off of," shares Rebecca Dingo, fellow in the Office of Faculty Development and professor of English. "I see 'The Second Book' cohort as one way OFD can begin to respond to faculty's scholarly writing needs. I am so excited to work with this cohort and guide them toward mutual support while they make progress on their writing."

Up to eight scholars will be accepted for this cohort. The eight meetings will start in the spring and will take place from 10 a.m. - noon on every other Thursday from Feb. 1 - May 9. Scholars must commit to participating in all program sessions and will receive a $500 stipend to support their professional development.

Full-time tenured faculty, full-time non-tenure track faculty on continuing appointment and librarians who hold a continuing appointment are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to faculty and librarians for whom a second book is encouraged for their next promotion.

More information regarding the application procedure and selection criteria can be found on the OFD website.
