Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to party like it's 1923! The Virginia Beach Library Foundation (VBLF) is hosting a Roaring '20s-themed Great Gatsby Gala on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. Indulge in a night of fun and frolic, food and drink, live music and dancing - while also raising funds for library programs that benefit the community.

Tickets are $75 each, or two for $125, available at www.vblfgala.com for advance purchase only. Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and beverages including a signature Gatsby-themed cocktail. Attendees must be 21 or older.

"This event is about bringing the community together to showcase and celebrate all that Virginia Beach Public Library provides to our city," said Foundation Board Member and Gala Chair Michelle Sweezey. "Libraries are so much more than books, and the funds we raise at the gala will help the Virginia Beach Library Foundation support new and innovative resources for everyone in Virginia Beach."

Come dressed in your best 1920s glad rags! Need a fedora or flapper headband to complete your ensemble? Accessory packages are available for $20 when you buy your tickets at www.vblfgala.com. You can also purchase raffle tickets for $10 each for the chance to win an Anna Jean Salon & Boutique hairstyling session on the day of the gala. Winners will be notified on April 7, 2023.

Local business sponsors include Raymond James, Towne Bank, UBS Financial Services, Taste Family of Businesses, Allegra Marketing Print Mail and Anna Jean Salon & Boutique. Sponsorships are still available. For more information, call 757-385-8128 or email [email protected].

Proceeds from the event will support Virginia Beach Public Library (VBPL) initiatives such as Accessible Resources & Services for Virginia Beach residents with visual, physical, and reading disabilities at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. The VBLF funds programs like the Summer Reading Challenge, resources like new outreach vehicles, and technology and equipment for the Edgar T.
