Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, and Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers are the Top Jobs in March

MONTGOMERY - Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor's Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in March 2024, there were 84,247 job ads posted in Alabama, representing a monthly increase of 1.4%.

The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, Fast Food and Counter Workers, Sales Reps, Wholesale & Manufacturing, Exc. Technical & Scientific Products, with 14,530 ads placed for those occupations in March.

The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state's free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.

In March 2024, there were 30,930 total job ads with salaries, including 9,250 jobs ads with salaries of $60,000 and above; 5,261 jobs ads with salaries in the $48-60,000 range; 8,471 jobs ads with salaries in the $32-44,000 range, and 7,948 jobs ads with salaries less than $32,000.

The top two employers posting the most online ads in March were Walmart with 1,441 ads and Huntsville Hospital with 1,066 ads. The rest of the top 10 were: UAB Medicine (934), The University of Alabama at Birmingham (793), Baptist Health (706), Auburn University (529), USA Health (485), Jack's Family Restaurants (429), Cracker Barrel (426), and Grandview Medical Center (376).
