Event Wrap: IETF 119

APNIC supported and participated as the local host in IETF 119, held from 16 to 22 March 2024 in Brisbane, Australia.

The event welcomed 1,460 on-site and remote participants from around the world to collaborate and discuss internet protocols and technologies. There was also a Hackathon and a Codesprint. View the agenda for more information.

APNIC activities:

• Geoff Huston presented 'Is the DNS ready for IPv6?' during the Internet Engineering and Planning Group (iepg), providing measurements and insights on the viability of IPv6 as a DNS transport.

• Geoff also presented on 'IPv6 Operational Issues (with DNS)' at the V6 Operations Working Group (v6ops).

• Geoff delivered a presentation to the Research and Analysis of Standard-Setting Processes Proposed Research Group (rasprg) titled 'Making an RFC in Today's IETF'.

• Tom Harrison presented a draft on RPKI manifest numbering problems to the SIDR Operations (sidrops) Working Group.

• Paul Wilson presented on 'IP Addressing and IPv6' during the ISOC Policymakers Program. Sylvia Cadena also delivered a presentation to the group on APNIC Foundation programs.

• APNIC Foundation sponsored 18 participants from the Asia Pacific region to attend as 'Internet Standards Ambassadors'. An initiative co-funded by the Australian Government, the ambassadors attended IETF working group sessions, where a few of them presented on projects, and joined social events.
• As local host, APNIC and APNIC Foundation facilitated a number of side meetings, socials events and welcomed IETF participants to visit the APNIC office.
