Homes For Our Troops Presents New Custom Home to Injured Marine Veteran

Wind Gap, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity joined Tom Landwermeyer, President and CEO of Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), today to present the key to a new, specially adapted custom home to retired Marine Corporal Daniel Lasko and his family.

"Corporal Lasko was called to protect us all, and he did, no questions asked. It was an honor to be a part of the ceremony to give him and his family the key to their new house. Homes For Our Troops is an amazing organization, recognizing the sacrifices made by injured Veterans like Dan and helping them to live independently after their military career ends. I thank Dan for his service to our great country, and I wish him and his family many years of happiness in their new home."

"Enthusiasm and support by local communities where we build homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans is critical to our success and our Veterans' recovery. We are thrilled that Treasurer Stacy Garrity, a 30-year Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, joined us to celebrate handing over the keys to Marine Cpl. Dan Lasko's new specially adapted custom home where he and his family will begin rebuilding their lives."

Cpl. Lasko enlisted in the Marines and was sworn in on 9/11. He was injured in April 2004 in Afghanistan when an IED detonated as his vehicle drove through Tarin Kowt. Cpl. Lasko lost his left leg below the knee and sustained other injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. He now leads an active lifestyle with his wife Jess and their two sons, Luke and Ben.

The Laskos' new home from Homes For Our Troops includes 40 major adaptations and exceeds ADA compliancy standards. Adaptations include wider halls and doorways, automatic door openers, roll under sinks, and more to allow for independent living. Their previous home was located on a hill and had numerous stairs, inside and outside, that presented many physical challenges and barriers.

"There's no way to fully repay Veterans for all of their sacrifices. Cpl. Lasko and his family are as deserving of this home as anyone."

The mission of HFOT is to restore the freedom and independence of Veterans who have sacrificed so much while defending our country so they can focus on their family, recovery and rebuilding their lives. HFOT's goal is to build a home for every Veteran who qualifies.
