Visit by Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra to Plovdiv, Bulgaria

The Italian Ambassador to Sofia Giuseppina Zarra recently visited Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city after the capital, to meet with the local authorities. During her visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by the Italian Honorary Consul in Plovdiv, Giuseppe De Francesco, and the President of Confindustria Bulgaria, Roberto Santorelli.

Ambassador Zarra met with Regional Administrator Iliya Zyumbilev and with Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov. During the talks, they discussed possible initiatives within the framework of the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two countries aimed at attracting further Italian investments in the city and the region, increasing tourism, and developing cultural relations between Italy and Bulgaria, particularly in the Plovdiv region.

Ambassador Zarra was also received by the Vice Rector of Educational Activities, Veselina Goranova, at the Medical University of Plovdiv, where, according to the latest data, around 400 Italian students are enrolled in courses at the Faculty of Medicine. The university representatives attending the meeting shared their enthusiasm for the excellent performance of the Italian students. Several aspects of bilateral relations and cooperationprospects with Italian universities were also discussed.

At the end of the day, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to visit "Marzia bags", a company specialising in high quality leather goods, which produces accessories and bags for renowned Italian fashion brands.
