As part of the Czech presidency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in cooperation with the European Commission, organized a conference on the 30th anniversary of the internal market. The speakers discussed, in particular, the future perspective of the single market in the context of the current crises, as well as how small and medium-sized enterprises can benefit as much as possible from the internal market. The conference was also attended by the Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton and President of the European Parliament's Internal Market Committee Anna Cavazzini.

"It is the single market that makes our lives easier, richer and significantly more diverse. I am honoured that we can celebrate its 30th anniversary directly on the grounds of our Ministry" says Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela, adding: "I would very much like to thank the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, who came to visit us personally and who praised the work of the entire team of the Czech presidency." According to Breton, the internal market is developing dynamically and it is necessary to consider the current challenges and consequences of crises, which must be responded to effectively and in a timely manner at the EU level.

"The main priority should be the fight against climate change and the transformation of the economy into a circular one that takes into account environmental protection; another goal of the Union should be to achieve full digitization and a green transition"MEP Anna Cavazzini mentioned in her speech.

The future of the internal market and the creation of a friendly environment for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs was one the main topics discussed were. "The future of the single market lies mainly in its modernization and adaptation to the digital environment in which we live. Our goal is to eliminate legislative proposals that have a negative impact mainly on the small and medium-sized enterprises says the plenipotentiary for the Czech presidency and vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Prouza.

In order to create a suitable business environment, specific obstacles that companies may encounter need to be reduced. "Already existing mechanisms contribute to their elimination, such as the platform for the enforcement of rules in the internal market, which currently focuses on removing barriers in the field of service provision, as well as an integrated service for entrepreneurs, which combines the advisory networks of the Single Contact Points, services for out-of-court resolution of disputes and problems when dealing with the SOLVIT and Product Contact Point (PROCOP) authorities. These services make it easier for citizens and entrepreneurs to move and work in the internal market" says Director for European Affairs and Internal Market Martin Bednář.

The conference was also attended by representatives of national and European bodies responsible for the functioning of the internal market and representatives of entrepreneurs. Records of the conference can be found at https://youtu.be/g5x6R1E60Y4.
