State Police Investigating Fatal Incident on State Route 28 in th...

On April 24, 2024, at approximately 4:16 PM, State Police in Herkimer responded to State Route 28 in the Town of Herkimer, Herkimer County for a three-car personal injury accident.

Investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Doris Palczynski age 90 from Herkimer NY was traveling north on State Route 28 when she slowed down to pull into her driveway when another vehicle operated by Greta Elliot age 40 from Mohawk NY rear-ended Palczynski's vehicle. Palczynski's vehicle was then pushed into oncoming traffic colliding with a third vehicle operated by Sharon Kupiec age 36 from Newport NY.

Doris Palczynski was transported by ambulance to Little Falls Hospital, and later to Albany Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on April 25, 2024.

State Police are still investigating.
