Science Brief: Omicron (B.1.1.529) Variant

The WHO and the United States have classified the emerging Omicron variant as a Variant of Concern, and recently, cases attributed to Omicron have been detected in the United States. This science brief summarizes what we know about the Omicron variant as well as some of the U.S. public health response to its emergence.
