MDOT, City of Allegan partner to build M-89/M-40 roundabout

ALLEGAN, Mich. -In partnership with the City of Allegan, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $7 million to build a roundabout at the M-89/M-40/Hubbard Street intersection in the city of Allegan.The project also includes sidewalk and ramp improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and resurfacing M-89 between M-222 and 29th Street.

  • M-40 will be detoured via 102nd Avenue, 26th Street, 114th Avenue (Hooker Road), Eastern Avenue, Industrial Drive, and 118th Avenue (Babylon Road).
  • M-89 truck traffic will be redirected via US-131 (Plainwell), M-222 (Monroe Street), Eastern Avenue, Industrial Drive, and 118th Avenue (Babylon Road).

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 99 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This project will increase safety, improve the ride quality, and extend the service life of the roadways.
