Latest Ridership Trends

• Total ridership in February of 3.9M trips was 42% of pre-COVID expectations, 0.9% below the February FY24 budget and 1.9% more than January total trips.
• Weekday ridership increased in February to an average of 162,200, 38% of pre-COVID expectations and consistent with expected seasonal variation. (It was 153k, 39% of pre-COVID in January)
• Average Saturday ridership increased to 92,000 while average Sunday trips declined marginally to 59,000 trips. These are 60% and 65% of pre-COVID expectations, respectively. February 24, 2024 was the highest Saturday since the start of the pandemic, at 124,000 exits, due in part to the Chinese New Year Parade and special events.
• Total ridership for 2023 was 48M trips. That is up 16% from 2022. Average weekday ridership for 2023 was 158k, up 18% from 2022 while average Saturday and Sunday ridership averaged 89k and 65k, an increase of 12% and 13% respectively. 2023 saw a number of milestones including all of our current top 10 highest ridership days since the pandemic. These were largely related to major events during the year including conferences and concerts in San Francisco, Fleetweek, and Pride.
