Accelerated EU integration significant for economy and employers

The economy could reap significant benefits through gradual accession to the European single market, stated Prime Minister Milojko Spajić during a meeting with representatives of the Montenegrin Employers Federation.

Prime Minister Spajić emphasised during the meeting that the Growth Plan is designed as a mechanism for the Western Balkan countries to join the large European market, making it crucial to effectively implement planned reforms. In the context of accession, joining the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) is particularly significant, as it should facilitate all forms of payments with all European countries.

It was noted that the intention of the European Commission is to connect entrepreneurs from Montenegro with companies from the European Union through the Growth Plan.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of obtaining the IBAR, after which each sector will work on closing certain chapters, with a large number of experts from the European Union providing special assistance in this regard.

It was concluded that this will also bring effective responses to all open issues faced by employers.

It was noted that combating the informal economy must be among the priorities, and that social dialogue and comprehensive analysis are key to all systemic solutions.

The Montenegrin Employers Federation welcomed the announced infrastructure projects, as they will boost and diversify the economy.

Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Naida Nišić presented the plan for the digitization of the Employment Agency, which should benefit both employers and unemployed citizens. In addition, she announced numerous reforms that are being intensively worked on and will be discussed at the Social Council.

Representatives of the Montenegrin Employers Federation attending the meeting included President Slobodan Mikavica, President of the Assembly Slaviša Šćekić, General Secretary Suzana Radulović, and Executive Board members Danko Obradović and Dragutin Mitrović.
